– In-Service Twinax/Triax Connectors from Trompeter Will Support Both Retrofitted and New 40 Mbps Avionics Platforms –
MESA, AZ (November 17, 2006) --- Trompeter, a leading provider of interconnects for military and aerospace communications systems, announced that there legacy 70/370, 80/380, and 150/3150 series twinax/triax connectors - mainstays in MIL-STD-1553B data bus applications - will support the emerging 40 Mbps data rate for military avionics applications. Robust in mechanical and electrical design, each of these six connector series is performance-rated to 500 MHz and delivers error-free digital signal transmission.
Trompeter twinax connectors support computerized/multiplexed digital data distribution systems servicing Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (C4I) functions originally designed for military aircraft and now widely deployed on land, sea, and air vehicles. They are designed to protect data signals from extraneous noise through non-signal-carrying shielding. Trompeter provides matching twinax and triax connectors and cable for improving the transmission capabilities and interference rejection of MIL-STD-1553B data transmission systems.
“Trompeter 1553 interconnect products are ready now for the emerging higher data rates,” said Bill Spink, director of engineering for Trompeter. “As component designers develop the active electronics to support the 40 Mbps data rate for 1553B, we want to assure our long-standing military customers that the Trompeter products they depend on today will deliver the same reliable performance as their platforms are retrofitted for higher data rates.”
In addition to high reliability RF interconnect products, wiring harnesses and optical connectors and transceivers for MIL-STD-1553B are available through Semflex Microwave Solutions and Stratos Optical Technologies, respectively. Trompeter, Semflex, and Stratos Optical are members of the Stratos International family of brands.
